The Mobile with Video Glasses

The new G777

General Mobile G777

The video glasses do not represent a new idea as several producers have already released such products. But until now, nobody has thought of turning video glasses into a cell phone accessory. I mean nobody but General Mobile, the company that announced its new Cinema Phone during this year's CeBit fair.

The General G777 cell phone, which was announced in January 2008 looks just like any other phone; is a simple, black candy bar with a quite classy but not spectacular design. The big surprise comes when discovering its video glasses, which might become the coolest mobile accessory of the year. Traveling and waiting will never be boring again if you carry a miniature TV set. You can just put on the glasses, which are the equivalent of a 50-inch TV set, and watch a video, a movie or read an e-book.

But the G777 cell phone comes with other cool functionalities. The General Mobile Theft Track system will lock the phone if somebody other than the owner tries to use it, while the motion sensor will enable you to change the wallpaper just by shaking the cell phone up and down. In terms of technical specifications, the G777 packs a video player (Mpeg 4 and 3GP), an audio player (MP3, MIDI, AAC and AAC+), a voice recorder, a 3 mega pixel video and photo camera which can function as a webcam and a 2.4 inch TFT QVGA display with 262k colour support. It also comes with Bluetooth, USB and a remote control. Moreover, the Cinema Phone comes with a 23 MB memory and a Micro SD card support.

The cell phone will be available by the end of 2008 (400 euros).G777

General Mobile has acquired quite an experience producing mobile communication software and for two years it has been producing cell phones as well. They have released the first Windows Mobile dual SIM cell phone. This year they have used the CeBit fair as an opportunity to showcase two brand new dual SIM phones and a watch phone that has become the smallest cell phone in the world.
