What is an InteractPad?
The New LG KF600
The Korean producer has made a habit of releasing cell phones that make us drool. The new LG Viewty seems to be the worthy successor of the Prada cell phone. But the Chocolate and Shine series have also produced an heir, the KF600.
The LG KF600 was introduced in February 2008 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and released shortly after that in March. The price may vary a lot from one retailer to another.
If we think about the Chocolate cell phones, the idea of using touch sensitive controls is not new for LG. The new feature of the KF600 slider is the InteractPad with haptic feedback, meaning that when you touch a key, it answers back and lets you know that it understands your command.
OK so what's an InteractPad? This is the name LG gave to the second display of the KF600. Yes, it has a second display, though being a slider. But the InteractPad is more than just a display, as it can replace any other external controls. Besides the D-pad functionality, it carries also the soft and the send/end keys as well. If you are using the media player to listen to music the InteractPad shows the "Play", "Stop", "Forward", etc., virtual keys. If you decide to turn off the music and take some pictures, those keys disappear and the InteractPad shows the "Capture" and "Zoom" keys.
The KF600 is a hybrid cell phone and it combines the touch screen with standard handling, so it also features a classic keyboard for old fashioned users. Apart from these, the new LG packs a microSD card slot, a main TFT display with 262k color support, e-mail and internet capabilities. Also there is a 3.15 mega pixel camera with autofocus and video flash, an FM radio, a media player with MP3, MP4, WMA, AAC, and AAC+ support.
And one more thing: the fashionistas will be thrilled, as it comes in four beautiful colors, Pastel Pink, Shiny Pink, Wine Red and Titan. But wait, there's more. The surface of the KF600 features the same mirror-like effect that made LG Shine so good looking. It looks so sleek, shiny and elegant that you'll surely fall in love at first sight.
