Nokia Taking Over The World
New Nokia Cell Phones
It seems that Nokia continues to focus on emerging markets. The Finnish company has just announced four new entry cell phones at the Growing Together conference 2008 held in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 5000, 1680, 2680 and 7070 Prism models will be priced under 90 euros before taxes or subsidies.
The Prism cell phones (7500 and 7900) are known for being low featured, but pricey. Some may find the diamond like design quite stylish, while others dislike it because of its sharp edges. However the Prism series has had quite a success and many people wished they could have afforded it. Now with the 7070 joining the prism collection we'll probably see the diamond design in many more hands. The new low cost Prism cell phone comes with basic features being targeted to users who can't afford expensive phones but want a fashionable phone. Unlike its "wealthy relatives" the 7070 comes in a clamshell form factor. It packs a TFT display with only 65K colors support, WAP capabilities and a low internal memory of only 11 MB, which cannot be expanded. There's no USB, no Bluetooth and no media player. Apparently it will be available in Q3 2008 for 50 euros before taxes and subsidies.
The Nokia 5000 cell phone is slightly more featured and stands out between the four handsets announced during the Johannesburg conference due to its features and design. The phone is packing a 2 inch TFT display with 65k color support, MP3 Player, FM radio, Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, Bluetooth, WAP browser and email. The 5000 model is Nokia's first 1.3 megapixel cell phone to come for a price under 100 euros.
Another interesting thing about the Nokia 5000 is its interesting design. Resembling the 5310 model it comes in two combinations of colors (white margin, blue center or green margin black center), which makes it look sporty and different. This new cell phone will be available Q2 2008 for about 90 euros.
The slider handset Nokia 2680 will be available in four color schemes including violet and orange. It includes a VGA camera, Bluetooth and an FM radio that can record radio broadcast directly to the phone. This slim slider will be available Q3 2008 for about 75 euros.
The forth cell phone announced by the Finnish producer is the Nokia 1680 one of the cheapest Nokia device ever. The candy bar type phone will come in for color schemes including wine red and plum and will include VGA resolution camera. It will be available Q2 2008 for about 50 euros.
